Well, it's that time of year again to resolve to do something better. My last year's resolution of trying not to be so hard on myself is still a work in progress, so I'm going to keep that one going as well into 2010. I have been quite successful with it this last year and I don't beat myself up for a lot of things I use to, so I know I can actually maintain a resolution throughout the whole year.Which brings me to this year's resolution. I decided to up the ante on improving myself by better improving my relationship with another. The victim? My husband.

My New Year's Resolution is to be a better wife to the man that spotted me in the produce section of the grocery store 9 1/2 years ago. He's loved me despite all my downfalls and I haven't given him all the credit he deserves as being an amazing husband and father.

I figured if I put this resolution on my blog it would act as a good reminder to me to follow through on this resolution. I want to share with others what a great man I married. For instance, I woke up yesterday seeing my birthday as just another day, though I was grateful for a few family members and friends calling me up to wish me a happy birthday. That's the best kind of present at this time in my life to simply get my birthday acknowledged, since it's smack dab in the middle of Christmas and New Year's. It wasn't until Chris called, though, and wished me a happy birthday that it really felt like a special day.
He then called a little later and told me not to make any plans for the evening, which REALLY meant a lot to me because he's just starting his set of days and I know how tired he can be after a 12 hour shift.
He arranged dinner (I'm eating the left-overs for lunch today. YUM!) then took me shopping for a bit to use up some of my Motherhood Maternity gift card he purchased on his first day off, right before Christmas. As in, he braved the last-minute rush of Christmas shoppers though he HATES crowds.
Through his actions he's shown me that I'm still a queen in his eye, and I need to let him know that I feel the same way about him. So, wish me luck with my resolution since I'm combatting major pregnancy hormones that tend to prey on Chris first and foremost!
