OK. As cool as a city Albuquerque is (even their overpasses had personality!), it is a HARD place to spell!!!! That said, we had a fantabulous time visiting my brother Ryan and his wife Mindy while the kiddies had a blast with their cousin Andilyn.
We went to Old Town Albuquerque that morning, and one thing we most looked forward to while prepping the kids for the trip was to show them various forms of cacti since that's pretty much what one thinks of when one thinks of Arizona and New Mexico, right?! Well, they do in the Martin household! Seth had to strike the Rico Suave pose to remind everyone how cool he is.
While walking the Old Town Square (which reminded me a lot of Jackson Hole's Town Square because of the layout...minus the antler arches of course...anyway...) I walked past this gate and absolutely fell in LOVE with the whole scene! And with the exception of Eliza's hair in her face (a daily occurrence) this is my most favorite family picture taken this year.
It was fun giving my brother a chance to try out some carriers and spread the babywearing love.
We loved all the old churches!
The kids had the most fun running around in circles inside the Old Town's Plaza Vieja Gazebo! Those long car trips make for some simple pleasures, I tell you what!
At least we didn't have to pay the rental fee to hang out at the gazebo for a few minutes! The pigeons soon became quite the form of entertainment.
A victorious lad after clearing the cannon of pigeons by chasing after them.Well, since we're the history nerds that we are, visiting one Old Town part of a city wasn't enough, so we then thought it would be fun to check out Old Town Santa Fe, which then ensued in the song, "Santa Fe" from Newsies getting stuck in my head the remainder of the day, in which I'd start breaking out into song, in my own solo flash mob. Yeah, Chris wasn't impressed and claimed not to know me at one point.
