Just pretend you can't see the slugs under her noseWe received a bit of snow last night; just enough to cover everything with a clean white sheet. The kiddies interpreted this as a valid reason to go play out in the snow, so while Seth was still in his jammies he grabbed his boots and paraded into my bedroom, declaring it was time to go play outside.
He looked so adorable I couldn't resist, so we rummaged around the house to try to find all of our snow clothes. Eliza kept squawking in my wake as I didn't get the snowpants and suits fast enough, but finally we found everything and Seth bolted for the door.

Chris thought I followed him as Eliza waddled out the door, only I thought it was Chris that went out. So, for a few minutes our children were happily alone as Chris got his boots on and I sought out my gloves.
They didn't mind being unsupervised one bit.
We hurried out, but I was still waking up and my hair was drying in its own strange way.
Daddy yelled for the kids to come back to the house (they were nearly to our neighbors while Seth was "shoveling" the walk and Eliza happily toddled behind). I left the door open then went out the other one (pregnancy brain, I guess), and Eliza realized that snow makes cold fingers.
And so the grumpies decided to join the snow fun.
Seth just LOVES to roll around in the snow! Which would explain all of the snow pebbles lodged throughout his snowclothes... Eliza decided to collapse where she stood because she had enough. We had just barely gone into the backyard.
I tossed Eliza in the snow so she could make a pretty snow angel to remind her what snow play was all about!

She didn't really know what to think of it all, and besides, her boots were falling off and she realized that taking off her gloves wasn't the best idea after all.
Seth no longer appreciated being in the snow (it had been about 5 minutes, by now) while Eliza struggled to get out of her snow angel without any success, reminiscent of A Christmas Story when Ralphie's little brother falls and can't get up. That was pretty funny, actually. The kids weren't laughing though, so Daddy grabbed grumpy Eliza and went inside.
I tried to make words in the snow with bootprints with Seth since he's been so interested in his ABCs, but he wasn't impressed with me anymore, so we followed them in.
After Seth knocked down all the icicles within reach (which he calls popsicles).

Ultimately, the kiddies decided it was much more fun (and a lot warmer) to just lay on the stairs and make silly faces.
Yeah, this look pretty much sums our "snow fun" all up...I'm still trying to figure out what she was doing hiding in the food storage though...

Great photos--the one on the stairs is really creative.
With our snow play, I am glad that 2 of the 3 are interested in helping me shovel--at least I have assistance at the moment.
