Sneaky Little Leprechauns!

Yet another St. Patrick's Day has come and gone in the Martin Household, and what a busy day it was for us!

I wanted to do something fun with the fact that we were all wearing green that day, so I called some leprechauns (by randomly pushing numbers on the phone and having a one-sided conversation) to ask them to leave us some green clothes.

Well, with all the hubbub of the day, the house was a bit messy, so I incorporated that and had the leprechauns play some mischief on us, since that's what leprechauns do, dontcha know! ;)

They "called back" and told me they left a trail for us to find the shirts. I told Seth (Eliza was too busy pretending she was a princess and singing to herself to care) and off we went.

He was hoping for "gold" but I told him the leprechauns like to play tricks, so we spotted a different kind of trail...

Seth was so excited he couldn't sit still long enough for me to get a non-blurry picture of him holding up his lego batman shirt the leprechauns left him. He loves to play that xbox game with Chris! Oh, and ignore the winter box mess behind him. I told you the house was messy!

Still not the most clear picture, but you can tell that he was pleased with his "leprechaun trick" shirt.

The family's green shirts! Seth recognized Chris's Green Lantern shirt, and got the biggest kick that they "stole" it from his closet to match with the rest of the family's green attire.


It was an impromptu bit o' fun that we may incorporate every year from now on!

One tradition I look forward to every year is making corned beef and cabbage supper in the crockpot. I usually pick up the corned beef brisket at least a week in advance, but this year we had one thing going after another, so I kept putting it off and putting it off until Thursday rolled around and finally popped into the grocery store, only to learn they had been out of corned beef brisket for a few days by then. ARGH!!!

Eliza wanted to get in on the action too, but she got easily distracted when she spotted her sippy cup.

Wearing Green and Sportin' a New 'Do

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Though I don't have any direct ties to Ireland, I just love this holiday. I think part of the reason is because my favorite color's green and I've always had so much fun seeing it worn en masse on one specific day.


Yes, Seth is wearing camo olive green, but I had a much brighter green shirt to dress him in before Chris got to him. Sigh.

This is what I got when I asked Eliza to pose for the camera (she had a solid green shirt on underneath the jacket but Chris thought that was excessive...)

The only way I could get Eliza to semi-pose was by taking advantage of her captivation with a wailing ambulance going by (see the green flowers?!)

Getting the baby festive as well with the green shirt over the bump.

Chris had no say in how much green I could wear though, so I was in no danger of getting pinched. ;)

Ignore the haggard, squinty look. I wanted to show off my new hair-do in the sun!

I got my hair done by a fellow cop wife at a local salon yesterday who's been doing hair for years. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I've never had my hair professionally dyed before, but didn't she rock her stuff?!

Here's a little better picture of Alisa's amazing skills (though you still can't see the adorable highlights).

Seriously, the best part was having her shampoo my hair. She has magic fingers and has been told in the past that she should have been a massage therapist. I agree.

Well, the day isn't complete without a crock pot of corned beef and cabbage for our St. Patty's Day celebration!



We're also going to have pistachio pudding for dessert, to which Chris just rolled his eyes because I tend to take the whole "green" thing too far. We would've have green eggs and ham for breakfast this morning but he offered to make french toast sticks instead, so I'm not complaining!

Besides, there's always next year...
